Prop Guidelines for The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Out of respect for the Goshen Theater, and to ensure a safe and clean experience for everyone, the following props are not allowed during the screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show:

  • NO OPEN FLAMES (lighters, matches, or candles)

  • NO FOOD (rice, toast, hot dogs, prunes)
  • NO MESSY ITEMS (confetti, toilet paper, balloons)
  • NO WATER (squirt guns or water pistols)
  • NO ROPE OR PLAYING CARDS

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

There may be a few things that aren’t allowed, but there are a LOT more that are! Feel free to wear your best costume, then bring and use these props–we’ll help you out with knowing when to use them:

  • NEWSPAPER: When Brad and Janet are caught in the rain, Janet covers her head with a newspaper. You can do the same!
  • SPONGE: When Columbia says, “You’re like a sponge!” during her speech — toss your sponge in the air!
  • RUBBER GLOVE: Snap your glove dramatically when Frank puts his on during the tank scene.
  • PARTY HAT: Put yours on when Frank dons a party hat at the dinner table.
  • NOISEMAKER: Use it during the Lab scene when the Transylvanians make noise.
  • BELL: Ring it when Frank sings, “Did you hear a bell ring?” during Planet Schmanet Janet.
  • FLASHLIGHT OR GLOW STICK: Light it up during the line “There’s a light…” in Over at the Frankenstein Place.

The festival—known for its welcoming atmosphere and its commitment to emerging talent and creative risk-taking—highlights the work of local and regional filmmakers while also screening bold, original stories from across the country and around the world. RBFF is organized by Goshen Arts & Events, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and supported by grants, sponsorships, and a dedicated community of supporters and volunteers.
