Rudy Love & The Love Family in Concert
Goshen Theater • Saturday, 8:30 p.m.
Feeling funky? Soulful? Bluesy? “Yes” to all? Music lover, you are in luck. Rudy Love & The Love Family will be in concert Saturday, May 4, as part of the River Bend Film Festival. The Love story is the focus of the “funkumentary” film This Is Love, which will also be screened during the festival.
Despite a career hampered by shady music business practices, Rudy is still singing – and Love-ing it!
Rudy Love has been heralded as an unsung hero of soul by the likes of Jay-Z, Sly Stone, and George Clinton.
The concert is at 8:30 p.m. at The Goshen Theater, and tickets cost $20. Tickets are available online or at the theater ticket office.
Natives of Wichita, Kansas, Rudy Love and The Love Family have been bringing their signature soulful music to audiences in the Midwest and around the world for the last four decades. Coming from a family of 17 brothers and sisters influenced by their father Robert Love, who had an extensive career touring the country as a performing musician with noted gospel and R&B artist, it was only natural to form a band.
During the 60’s and 70’s Rudy Love and The Love Family worked with an array of Motown artist and even gained famed with Sly & The Family Stone. As a soloist Rudy Love toured in Europe and Asia and received several accolades including a platinum record. Rudy Love & The Love Family was also featured on Jay Z’s American Gangster album.
