The Flying Dutchmen: A Year Later with Filmmaker Jon Helmuth
This is a free event – seating is limited
This event is a free informal Q&A session with local filmmaker Jon Helmuth. His feature-length documentary The Flying Dutchmen won Best Documentary at River Bend Film Festival 2016.
Jon Helmuth is a local entrepreneur and filmmaker. His first film, The Flying Dutchmen, features his cross-country motorcycle journey with his blinding friend who wants to see America one last time. The film won Best Documentary at River Bend Film Festival 2016.

Join festival attendees for an informal Q&A session with our Filmmakers Panel: Matt Litwiller, Wes Jones, Sarah Elizabeth, Whitney Valcin, Leila Djansi, and Jordon Hodges.

Matt Litwiller, a producer and director whose short film Language of the Unheard won Best Student Documentary in the emerging filmmakers showcase at the American Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
Wes Jones, a screenwriter for the critically acclaimed Showtime series Billions, starring Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actors Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis.
Whitney Valcin, an L.A.-based producer and casting director who has worked on casting projects for Fox, Disney, BET, and Tyler Perry Studios.
Leila Djansi, a multi-award-winning writer, producer, and director. Her film Like Cotton Twines was the winner of the Best Narrative Feature at Savannah Film Festival 2016.
Jordon Hodges, (RBFF ‘16), Goshen-born, L.A.-based actor, writer, and producer best known for playing Noah Daly in the award-winning independent film Sand Castles (2014).
Brody Bernheisel, a Goshen native and Goshen High School graduate, recently directed Strand of Oaks’ music video for the song Cry from their recent album Hard Love.
Sarah Elizabeth, a Goshen native and Goshen College graduate, is a professional film and television makeup artist who was a contestant on SyFY’s reality show Face Off.
Travis LaBella is a director of photography based in Los Angeles. Originally from New York, he studied film at Northwestern University and was the recipient of the ASC Student Heritage Documentary Award for his film Language of the Unheard. The film won Best Student Documentary in the emerging filmmakers showcase at the American Pavillion at Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
Jacqueline Reyno is a producer and director based in Los Angeles. She was the producer of the film Language of the Unheard, which was featured in American Cinematographer magazine.

2:00 p.m. | Workshop • Make Up for Film | Art House
This workshop will be led by professional film and television makeup artist, Sarah Elizabeth. She will lead the audience in an “Aging and Rejuvenation Makeup Demo.”
In this 90-minute workshop, Sarah will ask for audience input that will guide a process of aging and beautifying a character right before your eyes. Using film and television makeup techniques while creating a hypothetical story about the character, Sarah will begin by transforming half of the model’s face from their current age to around 20 years older. Then, she will remove the aging makeup from the model and rejuvenate her with beautifying makeup tricks. Sarah will also discuss aspects of the makeup application process of design in television and film.
Sarah Elizabeth, a Goshen native and Goshen College graduate, is an award-winning makeup artist for television, theatre, and film. In 2012, Sarah was a contestant on Season 3 of SyFy Channel’s reality television series Face Off, appearing 9 of the 11 episodes and assisting on the winning team.

Whitney Valcin is an L.A.-based producer and casting director. She produced the film Like Cotton Twines, which was the winner of the Best Narrative Feature at Savannah Film Festival 2016. Valcin is also casting director who has worked on projects for Fox, Disney, BET, Tyler Perry Studios, and more. Valcin is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design and is the founder of the project management firm The Elocen Group.
