Goshen's First Fridays
Every first Friday of the month, Goshen hosts a downtown block party called First Fridays. This year, April First Fridays coincides with River Bend Film Fest. Visit CityOnTheGo.org for a list of activities and merchant specials.

The Flying Dutchmen: A Year Later with Filmmaker Jon Helmuth

This is a free event – seating is limited

This event is a free informal Q&A session with local filmmaker Jon Helmuth. His feature-length documentary The Flying Dutchmen won Best Documentary at River Bend Film Festival 2016.

Jon Helmuth is a local entrepreneur and filmmaker. His first film, The Flying Dutchmen, features his cross-country motorcycle journey with his blinding friend who wants to see America one last time. The film won Best Documentary at River Bend Film Festival 2016.

Join festival attendees for an informal Q&A session with our Filmmakers Panel: Matt Litwiller, Wes Jones, Sarah Elizabeth, Whitney Valcin, Leila Djansi, and Jordon Hodges.

This is a free event – seating is limited

Matt Litwiller is a Goshen-native and Goshen High School graduate who is now a producer and director based in Los Angeles. His short documentary Language of the Unheard won Best Student Documentary in the emerging filmmakers showcase at the American Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival in 2012.

Wes Jones, a screenwriter for the critically acclaimed Showtime series Billions, starring Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actors Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis.

Sarah Elizabeth, a film and TV makeup artist who was a contestant on Season 3 of Syfy Channel’s reality TV show Face Off.

Whitney Valcin, an L.A.-based producer and casting director who has worked on casting projects for Fox, Disney, BET, and Tyler Perry Studios.

Leila Djansi, a multi-award-winning writer, producer, and director. Her film Like Cotton Twines was the winner of the Best Narrative Feature at Savannah Film Festival 2016.

Jordan Hodges (RBFF ‘16), an L.A.-based actor, writer, and producer best known for playing Noah Daly in the award-winning independent film Sand Castles (2014).

Make Up for Film Workshop with Sarah Elizabeth.

This workshop will be led by professional film and television makeup artist, Sarah Elizabeth. She will lead the audience in an “Aging and Rejuvenation Makeup Demo.”

In this 90-minute workshop, Sarah will ask for audience input that will guide a process of aging and beautifying a character right before your eyes. Using film and television makeup techniques while creating a hypothetical story about the character, Sarah will begin by transforming half of the model’s face from their current age to around 20 years older. Then, she will remove the aging makeup from the model and rejuvenate her with beautifying makeup tricks. Sarah will also discuss aspects of the makeup application process of design in television and film.

Sarah Elizabeth, a Goshen native and Goshen College graduate, is an award-winning makeup artist for television, theatre, and film. In 2012, Sarah was a contestant on Season 3 of SyFy Channel’s reality television series Face Off, appearing 9 of the 11 episodes and assisting on the winning team.

Beth Grant is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces and one of the world’s most versatile actresses, having starred or acted in over 70 films, included Academy Award-nominated films Rain Man (1989), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), No Country for Old Men (2007), and Jackie (2016), along with multi-Academy Award-winning film including best picture, The Artist (2012).

Join us for a Talkback session titled Casting for Film & Television with special guest Whitney Valcin (L.A. casting director and film producer).

This talkback will be an intimate discussion about the world of casting for film and television.

Whitney Valcin is an L.A.-based producer and casting director. She produced the film Like Cotton Twines, which was the winner of the Best Narrative Feature at Savannah Film Festival 2016. Valcin is also casting director who has worked on projects for Fox, Disney, BET, Tyler Perry Studios, and more. Valcin is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design and is the founder of the project management firm The Elocen Group.
